Christopher Steele is a former British intelligence officer, and a director of London-based Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd. along with Christopher Burrows. He is alleged to have compiled a dossier on Donald Trump's links to Russia.[1]
Litigation over the dossier
Several cases over the dossier have been heard in the English courts:
- In Aven & Ors v Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd (July 2020), the High Court found that one allegation about two Alfa Group shareholders breached the accuracy principle of data protection law. It awarded each of them £18,000 in damages.[2]
- In Gubarev v Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd (October 2020), a libel claim against Steele and Orbis was dismissed.[3]
