Christopher Allan is a British diplomat who has served as Director, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) since May 2023.[1]
Career
Allan has worked for the UK government since 2000, primarily within the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and its predecessor departments.
His previous roles include:
- Director, International Strategy and Engagement at the Department for International Trade (DIT), 2019–2023.[1]
- Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, 2015–2019.[1]
- Deputy Head of Mission in Ethiopia, 2011–2014.[1]
- First Secretary for Energy and Environment in Tokyo, 2003–2006.[1]
He has also held FCDO roles covering security policy, South Asia, and environment policy.
Education
Allan holds a degree in Natural Sciences and Social and Political Science from Cambridge University and an MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics (LSE).[1]
