Beis Soroh Schneirer is an independent Orthodox Jewish day school for girls aged 2 to 11 at Arbiter House, Wilberforce Road, West Hendon, London NW9 6AX. It opened on 3 September 1996. Unique reference number 131026; DfE number 302/6104; local authority Barnet; parliamentary constituency Hendon. Ofsted records a Jewish / Orthodox Jewish religious ethos. There is no published school website.[1][2]
The name commemorates Sarah Schenirer (1883–1935) of Kraków, founder of the Bais Yaakov network of Orthodox girls’ schools.[3]
History
Ofsted’s first published inspection (May 2007) said the school was established in 1996 for the strictly Orthodox community of north-west London; in 2005 business premises were converted at the present West Hendon site. Roll then: 217 girls. Proprietor listed as Rabbi A. Adler; headteachers Mrs R. Weiss and Mrs S. Mossberg; fees £2,850.[4] A January 2010 inspection recorded 237 girls and fees of £3,300. The Jewish Chronicle reported that in June 2010 the school closed for four days over unpaid fees, owed Nationwide £300,000 on the mortgage and was owed about £200,000 in fees; governor Rabbi Akiva Adler said the parent body was “not the wealthy part of the community.” Lessons resumed after £120,000 was paid. The paper said the school had moved from Finchley Synagogue to the former industrial warehouse in 2005.[5]
A November 2024 material-change inspection approved an increase in capacity to 360. Clare Neuberger joined as headteacher in September 2023.[6] Get Information about Schools still listed Mrs Hadassa Ryde as headteacher in a later snapshot; Ofsted 2022 had named Dr Hadassah Ryde.[1][7]
On-site early years provision is separately registered (URN EY316479) and managed by the proprietor.[2][8]

Proprietor: Anthony Adler (GIS: Mr A. Adler; earlier Ofsted: Rabbi A. Adler). Chair of governors: Mordecai Waldman. Headteacher (Ofsted 2024–25): Clare Neuberger. Fees recorded as voluntary contributions; Ofsted 2025 figure £5,400. The school is not approved under section 41 of the Education Act.[1][2]

The July 2025 report said the proprietor and governing body understood their roles and met the independent school standards, schedule 10 of the Equality Act 2010 and EYFS requirements. Inspectors described a broad curriculum, emphasis on reading, and teaching about different faiths and cultures. Roll about 349; part-time teaching staff 43; welfare staff 40. No alternative provision.[2][9]
Friends of Beis Soroh Schneirer
The school is the named beneficiary of Friends of Beis Soroh Schneirer (charity 1153647), a grant-making trust registered 3 September 2013, objects including support of the school and advancement of the Orthodox Jewish faith. Income in the year to 31 May 2024: £4,033,001; expenditure £4,043,462. Trustees on the live register: Yshaya Sprung (appointed 1 August 2025), Shaul Krautwirt and Rachel Ludmir (both 27 February 2020). In May 2025 the charity was one of the first ten entered in the Charity Commission’s statutory class inquiry into cashed cheques after an HMRC visit to a Hackney company found 105 charities had cashed £22 million in cheques between December 2021 and March 2023. The register carries a regulatory alert that an inquiry is open.[10][11]
The school itself is not a registered charity and is not a company on the inquiry list. No Ofsted or DfE entry retrieved for this profile records operations in Israel or the occupied territories.
Relations to Jewish communal organisations, Israel lobby groups, and Israel
The school is a Bais Yaakov-tradition Charedi girls’ primary in West Hendon. Its support charity sits in the same Commission inquiry tranche as Mifal Hachesed Vehatzedokoh, Friends of Beis Chinuch Lebonos Trust and One Heart - Lev Echod, with trustee overlap through Yshaya Sprung.[10] Absence of a published grant list means transfers from the Friends charity to the school or elsewhere are not itemised on the register summary.
