The Alma Research and Education Center is an Israeli research centre focused on security on Israel's northern border, Hezbollah and Lebanon. The Media Line describes Sarit Zehavi as its founder and president.[1]

Proposals on southern Lebanon

In a March 2026 policy paper, Zehavi and Tal Beeri argued that "Israel" should hold southern Lebanon as a buffer, and wrote that "the humanitarian questions arising from the need to create a civilian-free buffer zone cannot be ignored". They said the return of Lebanese civilians "will only be possible if and when it becomes clear that the concept of the 'Resistance Society' hosting Hezbollah and its weapons no longer exists". They also described the displacement of about one million people as "a window of opportunity".[2]

In April 2026 Zehavi told The Media Line that "we are going to control there", but said: "I don't accept the word occupation, because we have no interest in keeping lands of Lebanon."[1]
