Alistair McAlpine, Lord McAlpine of West Green, is a former Conservative member of the House of Lords, and a director of the family-run construction firm, Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons Ltd. He was treasurer of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990 and its deputy chairman from 1979 to 1983.[1]
In July 2010, McAlpine stepped down from the House of Lords, in order to avoid new rules which would have required him to become UK resident for tax purposes.[2]
