Alan Protheroe
Alan Huckford Protheroe (born 10 January 1934) was deputy Director General of the BBC 1982-87. He was active in the Terrorital Army and was known in the BBC as 'Col. Protheroe' as a result.
After being sacked from the BBC in 1987 he became Managing Director of the Services Sound and Vision Corporation in 1988.[1] On its fiftieth anniversary he described BFBS (the broadcasting arm of SSVC), as the voice of your own community radio station, the voice that brings you in your own language news, drama, documentary, sport, education, information and comfort.[2]
