Have a look at the resources section of the page on CoRWM: http://www.spinprofiles.org/index.php/CoRWM or http://www.spinprofiles.org/index.php/Bell_Pottinger_Communications#References

The key thing is to reference docuemtns fully (ie author, title, source, vdate etc) and to upload the documents to the site via the 'upload image' link under 'special pages'. To determine the url for the uploaded file right click on the name of it once uploaded and 'copy link location'.

FOI ref author, title for this doc dates etc et

Hi,

on the Ministerial group: I would also leave in the names of former members but just list them as formmer members or note that the former minister set up the group do that it is clear this is a New Labourt venture and thatr it is being continued... --David 08:29, 13 Aug 2007 (BST)

at the risk...

Hi Claire

At the risk of uttering criticism... please seeTalk:Foresight_Communications. Unfortunately, you changed some footnotes to numbers, but left the top part untouched... and there is a discrepancy between the two which is now difficult to reconcile. Kindly change both the top and bottom sections numbering if you are going to do this.

I think that the referencing you are doing is great, but please be careful so that in the end you dont complicate matters...

Keep up the good work Kind rgds Paulo

explanation

Hi

Compare the Jan 6 (David's version) with yours... from this one can see that all the {{note|namex}} were transformed to {{note|#}} That is fine, although a minor improvement. But my problem is that all the {{ref|namex}} in the rest of the text remained untouched. There are a few consequences to this:

  1. the obvious one: there is no relationship in the footnote -- with the references below. So, if you were to press the little arrow to take you to a footnote section in the text, this would fail.
  2. Suddenly it is difficult to determine if ff were missing. Before one could match the {{ref|namex}} with {{note|namex}}, but now suddenly all the notes have become {{note|namex}}. On the odd chance that there are missing ff, extra ff or even wrong ff, it becomes very difficult to establish a direct mapping from the ff# in the text with the ff referencing at the bottom...

Right now, with the new <ref> format this is less likely to cause problems, BUT if one needs to port the old ff format to the new one it is difficult.

In the Foresight article there seems to be a mismatch of ff to ff# and I really can't determine which one and how to fix it. The fix requires looking through all links -- which I did, but it is very time intensive. I suspect it will take a good half hour to fix the ff relationships...

I hope this clarifies matters
