competing conspiracy theories -- can you be more accurate? do you need this phrase? I find it confusing as there is the question of which/whose conspiracy theories these are; "conspiracy theories" is one of those phrases like "terrorist" that needs to be understood in context.

It would be interesting to compare his opinion of the guilt of Saddam Hussein (as head of state and thus guilty) to Pinochet (as head of state and thus not guilty). -- I do not understand this so have deleted it, but if you want to clarify it, pls reinstate. Claire
