Susannah Vila is the Director of Content and Outreach for Movements.org. She has a Masters Degree in Political Science from Columbia University, USA.
As well as her work for Alliance for Youth Movements(AYM), she writes for various other established websites, often on the role of technology in Global Politics. She also works with individuals and organizations looking to harness digital tools for greater impact as a trainer and colsuntant.[1]

As the focus of her Degree would suggest, many of Susannah's own blogs on the site are based on corruption in Latin American countries, as well as reports on India, the US and any prominent news stories relating to digital diplomacy or repression.[3]
Media Work
Susannah Vila began her media career as a fact-checker, researcher and writer at The Nation Magazine. From here she moved to CBS news, where she held the same positions as she had in her previous post. [4]
She currently reports for Global Voices Online, which she has been involved with sine February 2010, covering the political situation in Cuba, specifically on infringments of human rights.[5]
Her most notable individual achievement in terms of media work, is the establishment of the website NYC.is. This is a blog-based website in which New Yorkers are welcome to make news-related posts which can then be shared and rated by other users.[6] Susannah Vila herself believes that its unique aspect of user-controlled local news will become a popular medium of internet press media: "NYC.is will, I hope, become the place to publish, share and rate community, civic and citizen journalism about neighborhoods in the five boroughs. There is no barrier to entry which, in addition to the self-curating aspect, is what sets us apart."[7]
