Stewart Young is a former member of the Royal Ulster Rifles, with whom he served in Cyprus.[1] A 1974 Garda memo describes him as the Officer Commanding Portadown UVF.[2] He was named in the 2006 Barron report as having been involved in the May 1974 bombing of Monaghan.[3] The Barron report also named him as a suspect in the 19 December 1975 bombing of Kay's Tavern in Dundalk.[4]
