Stewart Jackson is the Conservative MP for Peterborough. Jackson has served as member of the Peterborough Constituency since 2005. [1]

Alongside his constituency duties Jackson currently sits on the public accounts committee which is responsible for overseeing government expenditures to ensure they are effective and honest.

Parliamentary Career

Jackson has previously held a variety of other parliamentary roles including having worked as the chairman of the all party parliamentary group on Pakistan between 2007 and 2010. He has also previously served in the opposition whips office and was shadow minister for communities and local government in 2008. [2]

Following the 2010 Election, Jackson was appointed as parliamentary private secretary to Owen Paterson secretary of state for Northern Ireland and he held this position until October 2011 when he resigned. His resignation was supposedly due to 'his support for the motion on an EU referendum, which the Government opposed on a three line Whip.' [2]

Education

Stewart studied Economics and Public Administration at Royal Holloway College in the eighties and was awarded an Honours degree from the University of London in 1988. He also holds a Masters degree in Human Resource Management. [2]
