Secretariat (MI6)

A Secretariat reporting directly to the chief of the service was created within the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) in the 1980s.[1]

Structure

According to Philip H.J. Davies the Secretariat had the following structure after the MI6 re-organisation of 1995:

  • Head of Secretariat (H/Sect)
    • Ministry of Defence Adviser, Air (MODA (Air)/DI6 (AIR))
    • Ministry of Defence Adviser, Navy (MODA (NAVY)/DI6 (n))
    • Ministry of Defence Adviser, Army (MODA (Army)/DI6 (a))
    • (FOA)
    • Historical Section
    • Ministry of Defence Adviser, Special Operations (MODA/SO)

DI6 is the Defence Intelligence Service designation of Ministry of Defence liaison with MI6.[3]
