Professor Robin Grimes is chief scientific adviser for the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). He is the former Director of the Centre for Nuclear Engineering at Imperial College.

Grimes replaces Professor David Clary, who had held the post since it was established in 2009.

Background

Professor Grimes was previously the director of the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre for Nuclear Engineering and the Imperial College Centre for Nuclear Engineering.

He was also previously a member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, which advised the government on the 2011 Fukushima disaster. [1]
