Reach Coal Seam Gas Limited is an oil and gas company incorporated in 2008 and based in Aberdeen, United Kingdom.

Party to judicial review of Scottish fracking ban

In 2018 Reach, along with petrochemical giant Ineos, sought to challenge the Scottish Government’s decision to impose a ban on fracking and unconventional oil and gas development in Scotland. [1]

Ineos PEDL licence extended in 2019 for the second time

On 1 July 2019 the Scottish Government renewed an onshore petroleum exploration and development licence PEDL 162, which is 80 per cent owned by Ineos and permits fracking and other underground gas extraction technologies. The licence covers 400sq km to the south and west of Falkirk, and was extended for another year.

According to the Ferret:

PEDL 162 was originally granted by the Westminster government to a firm called Reach Coal Seam Gas in 2008. Ineos bought four-fifths of the licence in 2014, and responsibility for licensing was devolved to Holyrood in February 2018. [2]
