Operation Abelard II was an investigation into the 1987 murder of private detective Daniel Morgan. The investigation commenced in March 2006. In 2008, ; Jonathan Rees, James ‘Jimmy’ Cook, and brothers Garry and Glenn Vian were charged with the murder of Daniel Morgan. A fifth man, Sidney Fillery, a former police officer accused of interfering with the investigation into the murder, was charged with perverting the course of justice. By March 2011, the case had collapsed and all the defendants had been discharged after the Crown Prosecution Service declined to offer evidence against them.[1]
