Professor Neil Chapman is Chairman of the ITC School of Underground Waste Storage and Disposal, Switzerland. He has a PhD in geology and is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Engineering Materials, University of Sheffield, UK. He is also Programme Director of the Arius Association, Switzerland, which promotes shared regional and international radioactive waste repositories, and an independent consultant in radioactive waste management. He has worked for 30 years on the scientific and strategic aspects of deep and shallow disposal of radioactive wastes, and has advised industrial and governmental organisations in many countries. Professor Chapman spent twenty years in various UK programmes aimed at waste repository development. He is author/co-author of seven books on this topic.[1]
