National Institute for Health Research(NIHR) is funded through the Department of Health to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. It is a large, multi-faceted and nationally distributed organisation. [1]

NIHR funds leading-edge scientific research, 'driving faster translation of basic science discoveries into tangible benefits for patients and the public'. [2]
