Michael Prescott is the director of corporate affairs at the BT Group

Career

Prescott was the political correspondent for the Press Association in 1986, a former PA at The Sunday Correspondent and the Daily Mirror and finally the political editor at the Sunday Times between 1991 and 2001. He became highly respected and had many connections in Westminster, even breaking the news of John Major calling the 1997 election before most of his cabinet knew and he made public Ann Widdecombe's desire to destroy Michael Howard[1] Whilst editor at the Sunday Times, he spoke out against journalists who entered the world of PR and spin, in particular his former boss, Alistair Campbell[1] this, however, did not stop him from taking up a role as managing director corporate communications and public affairs at Weber Shandwick until February 2010. He was a huge success at WS, helping the firm to win the Public Affairs News Agency of the Year award in 2009 and many rival lobbyists claim that the agency’s public affairs offering has never recovered from his departure in early 2010[2].

He is now the director of corporate affairs at the BT Group.[3]
