Markus Beisicht was described in 2007 by Der Spiegel as, along with Manfred Rouhs, one of the 'party chiefs' of Pro NRW, a far-right populist political grouping which emerged from Pro Köln and centrally involved opposition to the building of mosques.[1].

The anti-Islam Pro Bürgerbewegung network emerged from Pro Köln.
