Magnox Electric Limited is a nuclear decommissioning Site Licence Company (SLC) controlled by Reactor Sites Management Company.

It operates under contract for the government-run Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

Magnox is owned by Energy Solutions, Inc., a company with reported revenues of over $1.75 billion, the lion’s share comes from the NDA associated with decommissioning contracts for Magnox North and Magnox South.

Activities

In 2009 the Environment Agency won its prosecution against Magnox Electric Ltd who were ordered to pay £400,000 for allowing a radioactive leak to continue for 14 years without being detected at the Bradwell-on-sea plant in Essex.

Sites

Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa.
