Dinner with lobbyists

A seating plan of the Conservative Party's Black and White Ball, in February 2014, was leaked to the Guardian in October 2014. The party, which guests pay between £450 and £1000 for a ticket, seats diners with the minister most relevant to them. The report revealed that while Hopkins was Minister of State for Housing and Local Government he sat with some of London’s top property executives, Bruce Ritchie, Paul Munford, an adviser to the Candy brothers and James Caan, who owns a property company. Ritchie is chief executive of Residential Land Group, which owns 1,200 properties in central London and between him and his wife donated £111,600 in 2013. Munford's company "arranges mortgages for wealthy foreigners wanting to buy high-value residential properties in London".[2]
