Kingfisher plc, one of the largest retail groups in Europe, gave the Labour Party more than £5,000 for 'tickets for dinners' in 1999-2000.

The Kingfisher Group includes Woolworths, Castorama, B&Q, MVC, Darty (France), Comet and Superdrug. The also own DIY chains Dubois Materiaux in France, Reno-Depot in Canada and NOMI and Koctas in Poland. They also own chains of electrical shops in Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg and Singapore. Their property company, Chartwell Land, is one of the UK's largest retail property developers.
