1984-1986 he was a Member of the European Parliament, he became a minister in 1986. He was a Member of the National Assembly of France for Paris; he was elected in 1986, 1988 and 1983. He was also elected for this position for Gironde between 1997 and 2004. He was the deputy mayor of Paris between 1983 and 95, he was re-elected in 1989 – he was also the councilor OF Paris at these times.
