Giovanni Berlinguer

Giovanni Berlinguer (born 09 July 1924, Sassari) was an MEP from the Italian Democratic Left, who served for the 6th term of the parliament.[1]

  • Lectureship in social medicine (1958) and hygiene (1964).
  • Professor of social medicine (Sassari, 1969-1974) and occupational hygiene (Rome, 1975-1999).
  • Honorary professor at the independent University of Santo Domingo (1992) and honorary Doctor of the University of Montreal (1996) and of the University of Brasilia (1996).
  • Emeritus professor of the University of Rome (2002).
  • Responsible for the first National Health Plan under the Economic Development Programme approved by Parliament.
