Eric Hammond (1929-2009) was General Secretary of the EEPTU trade union alongside Frank Chapple from 1982 to 1984, and solely thereafter until 1992.[1]

In 1986 he conducted secret negotiations with Rupert Murdoch which were widely regarded as a major blow to the print unions in the Wapping dispute.[1]
