Clive Jachnik

Dr Clive Vincent Jacknik is currently UK Maritime Liaison Officer to ECOWAS (Economic Community Of West African States) for the UK FCO since February 2013.

Jachnik formerly worked for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) as a Programme Manager for Reintegration and Reconciliation from January 2012 – February 2013 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Prior to this, Jacknik was a DDR (Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration) Programme Manager for IOM from April 2010 – January 2012 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, dealing with "Reintegration of Ex LTTE".[1]

Jachnik grew up in a military family, eventually ended up as a Naval Officer in the British Royal Navy

Jachnik used to work in the UK fishing industry and studied Marine Biology and Fisheries Development before working in development in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean before his military service. Following secondment to UN and NATO for military peacekeeping duties in Bosnia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jachnik joined the UN as a civilian performing DDR, SSR, peacekeeping and peacebuilding roles over the past 10 years in Africa and Asia.[2]
