The New Humanitarians are public intellectuals who advocate military intervention in the case du jour -- in general, countries where the imperial countries, US and UK, seek to intervene. These individuals are generally connected to think-tanks or humanitarian organizations advocating intervention in the Third World. NB: the new humanitarians in general do not advocate intervening in countries that are considered friendly to US or UK (so-called "western" countries), e.g., there are no calls to rescue the Palestinians. If such individuals were to advocate intervention in countries where the US/UK didn't favor intervention, then they would quickly lose their status as "public intellectuals". Furthermore, a significant segment of these figures advocated or applauded the US war of aggression against Iraq (e.g., Hitchens, Ignatieff, Kouchner, Garton Ash...)

There is a symbiotic relationship between the New Humanitarians, those seeking military intervention, and the "terrorologists" who seek to demonize those at the receiving end of the military intervention. In some cases the two classes overlap.
