Benita Ferrero-Waldner

Benita Ferrero-Waldner has been appointed the EU commissioner for external relations (2004–2009). Previously she was was the Austrian Foreign Minister; and about this appointment, Adar Primor, in Ha'aretz, wrote:

During her term as foreign minister, they said in Jerusalem, she positioned Austria as one of the most pro-Israel countries in the EU, pressing over and over again for improving the uneasy relations between Europe and Israel.[1]
