Amanda Harvie is a former PR consultant and regional manager for the Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust. She was appointed chief executive of Scottish Financial Enterprise in January 2003.

The Scotsman reported:

Harvie was 'previously chief executive of Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce and the youngest ever appointee to the role, will take up the position on 1 May. She replaces incumbent Ray Perman, who announced his intention to step down from the job last September... Harvie beat off about 40 candidates from as far afield as continental Europe and the US to win the job, widely viewed as one of the most prestigious and influential in the Scottish financial services sector.... Harvie is also the first woman to take on the job. She joined the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce in 1999'.[1]
