Tyrone Freeman is the General President of the Service Employees International Union; received the John F. Kennedy “Profiles in Courage” Award in 2003 and the Brotherhood Crusade Award for Black Leadership in 2001; member of various boards of directors, including the National AFL-CIO Changing to Organize Task Force, the Prison Industry Board, and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference; has worked internationally with the ANC Trade Union Movement, Sema (India’s Woman’s Labor Union), and trade unions in Vietnam.[1]
