Peter Jones (FRU)
Peter Jones is a former British soldier.
According to journalist Liam Clarke, Jones was the first handler of Freddie Scappaticci from 1976, and joined the Force Research Unit in 1984.[1]
In April 1980, Jones (Army no. 23778667), then a staff sergeant in the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment, was awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal in recognition of service in Northern Ireland during the period 1 August 1979 to 31 October 1979.[2]
In October 1984, as a Warrant Officer Class Two, Jones was awarded the George Medal in recognition of outstanding bravery in Northern Ireland.[3]
