Allan Bloom
Allan Bloom (14 September 1930 - 7 October 1992) was an American philosopher and classicist.[1]
Shadia Drury credits Bloom with popularising the ideas of his teacher Leo Strauss in his bestselling book The Closing of the American Mind.[2]
Influence
Bloom's students included Paul Wolfowitz, who provided the basis for the character of Phil Gorman in Saul Bellow's novel Ravelstein, a roman á clef portrait of Bloom's life.[3]
