Powerbase:Getting involved
Template:SpinProfiles:Help SpinProfiles is an encyclopedia of spin, propaganda, think tanks, institutes and other organisations and individuals engaged in communicative activities.
SpinProfiles is a specialised database intended for examining connections between organisations. It can be used as an educational, campaigning, or knowledge transfer tool. The many links between SpinProfiles pages on related subjects mean that they are picked up and ranked high by Google. As a result, research conducted today can be on the web and easily available to thousands the next day. This makes it an ideal resource for investigative research as it blends research and publication seamlessly.
SpinProfiles is by its nature a collaborative project which welcomes new contributors. In order to become involved you must first register as a User in order to be able to log in. See How to Register as a User for more information. To apply to be a User, email editor AT spinprofiles.org, giving your real name. Once you are approved as a User you will be sent a User Name and password to enable you to log in and edit. This is a simple process. As an approved User you will be able to contribute as much or as little as you want, at a time that suits you.
The site is based on a Wiki system, such as Wikipedia and Sourcewatch. These websites are open access Wikis, whereas SpinProfiles is a closed Wiki. This is to maintain some level of editorial control and to prevent acts of online vandalism: which is why it requires registration in order to contribute.
If you want more information on how Wikis work, go to the help page. The help & policy and guideline pages (click on the links below) also offers advice and assistance on how SpinProfiles works. A good place to start is with the contributing page.
If you have any queries please contact the SpinProfiles editor by emailing management AT spinprofiles.org.
