Brunswick is one of the City's largest PR and lobbying firms, representing more than a fifth of Britain's FTSE 100 companies. Its founder, Alan Parker, is a close friend of Gordon Brown. The prime minister is godfather to one of Parker's children and Sarah Brown used to work at Brunswick. It was Parker who recommended Brunswick's CEO, Stephen Carter, to be the PM's chief of strategy.
