Claire has worked as a freelance writer and editor since 1990. She has had articles published in a variety of magazines, including The Ecologist, Science in Society, Environment (E) magazine, Horse & Rider, and Fast Times magazine. During the late 1990s she founded and edited the magazine GM-Free, which helped publicise the concerns over GM foods and the disinformation often involved in their promotion. Since 2002 she has been a co-editor at the campaigning organisation GMWatch (www.gmwatch.org) which the journalist George Monbiot has described as providing the world's most comprehensive database on the impact and politics of GM crops. Claire also helped establish Lobbywatch (www.lobbywatch.org) which, together with GMWatch, provided the most extensive database on GM and related lobbying prior to SpinProfiles. Since 2005 Claire has written many student guides to literature for publishing companies based in the US. She also edits manuscripts for private clients and has taught writing and literature classes at colleges in the UK, US and Norway.
