Liam Aylward (born 27 September 1952, Kilkenny) is an Irish MEP from Fianna Fáil Party.

Background

Liam Aylward was highly concerned about the legislation opposing the use of pesticides for health and environmental reasons. He explained that the possible damage to the large and smaller scale farmers "at such an economically sensitive time" makes it "the most prudent approach to adopt," with the excuse of "protecting local livelihoods." The name of Iverk Produce Ltd (company on wholesale fruit, vegetables and potatoes) has been pronounced as being of primary importance in his political base.[1]

He has been named on the French honours list for the year 2008 for his achievements "on the broader European political stage." This is the highest honour that the French Government can give to a non-French national.[2]
