Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council
Water Supply & Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) was created in 1990 following a United Nations General Assembly resolution. It is hosted by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The WSSCC is a “multi-stakeholder” think tank. In their own words, the council “works to improve the lives of poor people.”[1] The Secretariat of the Council is based in Geneva Switzerland.
The Chairperson of WSSCC’s steering committee is Roberto Lenton, who is currently chair of the Global Water Partnership, a member of the inspection panel of the World Bank, sits on the board of directors of WaterAid America and is senior advisor to the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) at Columbia University.[2] Partner agency members of the WSSCC include Gender Water Alliance (GWA), UNICEF, and International Water Association (IWA).[3]
