Bank of Scotland

Now known as Halifax Bank of Scotland.

The Bank of Scotland was incorporated out of an Act of Parliament in 1695, to form Scotland's first commercial bank ^[1].

In 2001 it merged with Halifax Plc to become HBOS Plc, one of the biggest banks in the UK that could challenge the big-four clearing banks ^[2].
