Views

Peck's anti communism was reported by the Chinese propaganda outlet Xinhua in 1979:

Sir Edward Peck, former permanent british representative to nato, declared recently that in face of soviet hegemonist expansion, "the reaction of the west should be firm and positive and no more futile protests." in an article appearing in the latest issue of nato review, sir peck analyzed soviet military strength and political influence. He said that today the soviets possess not only potentiality to launch a nuclear war, but have "massively reinforced their conventional forces, particularly their naval forces." the massive military buildup, he pointed out, "is always connected with the political objective of moscow -- the expansion of its influence, its powers and finally its domination when opportunity comes."[5]
