Jimmy James
- Conservative candidate Jimmy James is a former major in the Royal Artillery who was educated at Marlborough public school. Mr James, a 44-year-old father-of-two sons, now works as a charity fundraising consultant advising organisations on how best to publicise their causes. Mr James, who lives in Northampton, graduated from Birmingham University where he was chairman of the Guild of Students' Council and the university's debating society. He began his military career at the prestigious Sandhurst training college for officers and joined the Royal Artillery in 1975. He completed five tours of duty in Northern Ireland and went on to work at the Army staff training college at Camberley before leaving the force in 1990. He is a member of the Institute for European Defence and Strategic Studies policy think-tank. He is a Northamptonshire County Councillor for the ward of Billing and stood as a Tory candidate in Bolsover at the 1992 General Election. In his spare time he enjoys cross country running, charity work and music.
