Naima Jewish Preparatory School (Naima JPS) is an independent Jewish day school for boys and girls aged 2 to 11 at 21 Andover Place, Maida Vale, in the City of Westminster. The Department for Education records that it opened on 9 May 1984, with 159 pupils on roll against a capacity of 180, and lists Mr B Pratt as headteacher. Its inspectorate is the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).[1]

Ethos and relation to Israel

The school's website says it is "educating children in order to acquire a love of God and the Torah, and to have respect and appreciation for Israel, with emphasis on Sephardi tradition".[2] In 2003 a Pikuach report stated: "The school's policy on the teaching about Israel is clearly set out in the school development plan." It added that "Israel is the topic for the Year 4 project", and that there were plans to set up an "Israel Corner" in the school. It listed Israeli dancing among extra-curricular activities, and said that "Trips to Israel have taken place in the past".[3]

Inspections

The ISI inspected the school on 18–20 November 2025 and found that all the Standards were met. Its report says the school's stated aims are "to provide pupils with a strong secular education alongside an excellent Jewish grounding, to prepare pupils for a successful life in British society and for a life with Torah values". It named Mr Julian Levy as chair and Mr Bill Pratt as headteacher, and recorded 172 pupils.[4] Earlier ISI reports are dated 2022, 2018, 2015 and 2012.[5]
