American Friends of Isaac Accords (AFOIA) is a New York-based nonprofit organization established in 2025 by the Genesis Prize Foundation (GPF) to serve as the philanthropic and operational vehicle for the Isaac Accords.[1][2] Its mission is to advance economic, cultural and diplomatic cooperation between Israel and Latin American countries, bridging governments, private sector leaders, civil society and Jewish communal partners.[1]
Origins and Funding
AFOIA was created following the award of the 2025 Genesis Prize to Argentine President Javier Milei. Milei declined the $1 million monetary award and directed that it be used as seed funding for the Isaac Accords initiative. The Genesis Prize Foundation then established AFOIA as the implementing nonprofit.[2][3] Initial funding consisted of the $1 million Genesis Prize allocation. AFOIA has since attracted additional donors committed to strengthening Israel–Latin America ties.[2]
Leadership
The organization is led operationally by former U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica Stafford Fitzgerald Haney (Fitz Haney), who serves as Managing Director for Latin America.[1][3] Stan Polovets, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Genesis Prize Foundation, oversees the initiative in close coordination with AFOIA.[2] No full public list of the Board of Directors or advisory council is published on the official website.
