Land Intelligence Fusion Centre
British Army intelligence unit providing reach-back fusion support to land operations
Land Intelligence Fusion Centre (LIFC) is a British Army intelligence unit that serves as the Army’s primary “intelligence engine” for multi-source data fusion and analysis.[1]
History and predecessors
The LIFC evolved from earlier Army intelligence structures within the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group (formerly 1st ISR Brigade). It was formally established as part of post-2010s reforms to enhance land-specific intelligence capabilities, with roots in operational lessons from Afghanistan (Helmand), where similar fusion teams were developed for tactical support.[2]
In late 2025 it was integrated into the newly formed Military Intelligence Services (MIS) as part of a wider Defence Intelligence reorganisation, providing specialist “reach-back” intelligence specifically for British Army and land-based operations.[3]
Location
It is based at Denison Barracks, Hermitage, Berkshire.[4]
Activities
The LIFC fuses data, technology and expertise to produce intelligence products at tactical, operational and strategic levels. It supports Land Forces both in the home base and on operations, working across all classification levels.[5]
Personnel
No specific senior personnel are publicly named in open sources. The unit is manned by members of the Intelligence Corps.
