Na'amod Ltd (trading as Na'amod, Hebrew for "we will stand") is a British Jewish political organisation incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 13 November 2020.[1] It describes itself as "a movement of Jews in the UK seeking to end our community’s support for Israel's occupation and apartheid, and to mobilise it in the struggle for freedom, equality and justice for all Palestinians and Israelis".[2]

The organisation's registered office is at 7 Bell Yard, London, and its stated nature of business includes activities of political organisations and other membership organisations not elsewhere classified.[1]

Views

Na'amod sets out its positions on its website and in public statements.

On the occupation

Na'amod defines the occupation as "Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza", describing it as "a system of violence and discrimination that infringes upon Palestinians’ freedom, dignity and human rights" and "a moral crisis" that constitutes "apartheid".[3] It campaigns to end British Jewish communal support for this occupation, stating it is "illegal" and an "affront to fundamental Jewish values of equality and human dignity".[3]

On Zionism

Na'amod states it "does not take a common position on Zionism" and that "our members include Zionists, non-Zionists, and anti-Zionists".[4] However, it "actively take[s] a position acknowledging the ways in which Zionism materially upholds occupation, apartheid, and genocide and stand[s] in solidarity with Palestinians suffering its consequences".[4] For Palestinians, "Zionism has meant expulsion, discrimination, and violence".[4]

On antisemitism

Na'amod defines antisemitism as "anti-Jewish beliefs, attitudes, actions or systemic conditions".[4] It states it stands "against antisemitism and Islamophobia with the same determination that we oppose the occupation, because we recognise that all oppression is linked".[4] The group has expressed alarm at the rise in antisemitism (and Islamophobia) since 7 October 2023 and opposes the IHRA definition of antisemitism on the grounds that it "consistently conflates legitimate criticism of Israel with antisemitism, thereby making antisemitism harder to combat".[5][6]
