Esmond Sidney Rosen is a British community worker, interfaith advocate and president of the Barnet Multi Faith Forum.[1]
Born and educated in Birmingham, he graduated from Loughborough College in 1974 as a physical education teacher.[1] His career spans youth and community work in Jewish and multi-faith settings across the United Kingdom.
Career timeline
Esmond Sidney Rosen began his professional life as a PE teacher at Hendon School in Barnet until 1977.[1] He then travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, India and Nepal with his wife Hilary Rosen.
- 1977–early 1980s: First Sports Action Community Organiser in the United Kingdom in Birmingham; later appointed the original Birmingham Jewish Youth and Community Worker.[1]
- 1984: Principal Youth and Community Officer, Richmond upon Thames.[1]
- 1986–2004: Director of Liverpool Jewish Youth & Community Centre (Harold House); elected Chair of Liverpool Faith Network.[1]
- 2004–2005: Director of Community Issues, Board of Deputies of British Jews.[1]
- Post-2005: Community Development Manager, Borehamwood Synagogue; initiated and elected Vice Chair of Hertsmere Faith Leaders Forum.[1]
- 2009–2016: Regional Development Manager, Jewish Volunteering Network (retired December 2016; helped create the agency).[1]
- 2016–present: President, Barnet Multi Faith Forum (voluntary role).[1]
He has edited The Role of Righteous Muslims, an educational booklet on Muslims who saved Jews during the Holocaust, produced by Faith Matters.[1]
