'Alleged petrol offence: Six Glasgow men on trial', Glasgow Herald, 8 October 1942. Among the accused were Isaac Jesner, Louis Jesner and George Jesner. their accomplices included Hyman Slonimsky, Hyman Cohen, Jack Levy, Joseph McCrum and Sidney Wolfson.
Two years sentence for Glasgow man.[1]
Sidney Wolfson (born 1907 in Cathcart (Lanark), died at 80 in 1988 at Glasgow, Martha St).
Son of Alexander Wolfson (died at 72 in 1954 in Pollok) and Bessie Wolson (nee Margolyes), who married in 1907 in the Gorbals

- 1955 - BUSINESSMAN JAILED . For defrauding the Industrial Discount Company, Ltd of London. of £6820, Sidney Wolfson, 'a Glasgow businessman was at Glasgow High Court yesterday sentenced to two years' imprisonment. The jury by a majorily, re(urntd’ a verdict of not proven on remaining charges involving sums amounting to £16,682, The trial had lasted 17 days - the longest High Court trial in Glasgow. There were more than 400 witnesses.[2]
- 1955 - Four of the witnesses have died - A trial in which over 400 witnesses are expected to give evidence opened before Lord Migdale at Glasgow High Court yesterday. Sidney Wolfson, Glasgow businessman, pleaded not guilty to a charge that while acting with another man, in custody in Edinburgh, he defrauded a London firm, the Industrial Discount Co., Ltd., of £23.502. The indictment alleged that Wolfson entered into an agreement with the company regarding a hire purchase scheme, and sent fictitious names of people who were stated to have bought furniture and other goods on hire purchase. Mr D. W. R. Brand, advocate depute, for the prosecution, said that 21 of 445 witnesses previously cited would not appear. Some of them were out of the country, and four had since died.[3]
