Jonny Hall is Director of the Information Threats and Influence Directorate in the FCDO..

Before this he was Director of the Stabilisation Unit.

Previously, Jonny spent 4 years in No.10 Downing Street, where he was Foreign Affairs Private Secretary to the Prime Minister from late 2016 to 2019.

Jonny joined the Civil Service in 2007, and has spent the majority of his career in the Department for International Development, holding a variety of posts in London and overseas. He was posted to Iraq in 2009, working in both Basra and Baghdad, and to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2011 in the Helmand Provincial Reconstruction Team. Jonny was appointed Deputy Director of the Ebola Crisis Unit to respond to the outbreak in West Africa in 2014, working both in London and in the civil-military task force in Sierra Leone.

Jonny has an English Literature degree from Newcastle University. Prior to joining the Civil Service he was an Army Reservist, deploying as an Infantryman to Iraq on Operation TELIC 5 in 2004 to 2005.[1]
