Stephen Cowan (born July 1954 in Newton Mearns) is a retired lawyer with a specialist in debt recovery and a Zionist activist.

Stephen Cowan married Paula Lesley Cowan (nee Marks, 1979 in Eastwood and Mearns). She was for a time (Appointed on 16 December 2008 Resigned on 13 December 2017) the Secretary of the law firm at which her husband worked (Yuill & Kyle Ltd. (SC352604)), giving an address at the University of the West of Scotland[1]

Stephen has specialised in debt recovery, both defended and undefended, and insolvency issues for over 25 years, and has grown Yuill + Kyle to become one of Scotland’s largest legal firms in this area. He is the author of “Scottish Debt Recovery: A Practical Guide”, and regularly contributes to publications such as “Credit Today” and “Credit Management”. He also wrote the section on Scottish litigation in Croner’s “Guide to Credit Management” and Tolley’s “Effective Credit Control and Debt Recovery Handbook”. Stephen lectures extensively on Scottish debt recovery law and credit control issues on behalf of various organisations including Central Law Training and the Institute of Credit Management. Stephen is also a tutor at the University of Strathclyde. [2]
