Pamela Livingston

Pamela Livingston (born 1953 Pollok, nee Davis) is a Glasgow based Zionist activist.

• 2003 - THE Scottish Council of Synagogues has elected Pamela Livingston as its first female chair. The council has representatives from each of the Orthodox synagogues, which take it in term to provide the chairperson for a year. Mrs Livingston was also the first woman to become vice-chair of Netherlee, Clarkston and Queens Park Synagogue, a post she holds jointly with Arnold Shroot. Meanwhile, the West of Scotland Race Equality Council has re-elected Judith Tankel as its vice-chair. "It is very important to work with other ethnic communities," she said, adding: "We should not import the quarrels of other nations to the countries of which we are citizens."
• 2001 - JUST WEEKS after the London-based United Synagogue ruled that women can become synagogue vice- chairs, a second Glasgow synagogue has elected a woman into the post. Pamela Livingston, 47, will share the vice-chairmanship at Netherlee and Clarkston Hebrew Congregation with Arnold Shroot. She will handle issues relating to social activities while Mr Shroot will deal with religious aspects. Mrs Livingston's husband, Martin, was president from 1995 to 1998, during which time she was secretary, a position she retains. Mr Shroot was building convenor, and later warden. Mrs Livingston, who is provincial commander of the Jewish Lads' and Girls' Brigade, said: "I am privileged to be in this position with Arnold and the rest of the committee."
