Brockham field in Surrey not commercial without fracking company admits
Angus began a well test programme at Brockham in December 2018, but the flow test did not achieve sustainable flows of oil.
In June 2019 Angus Energy announced that the Kimmeridge formation at Brockham would not produce commercial quantities from the Brockham X4z well without fracking. As a result, it said it was considering selling the Brockham field.
Shares in Angus Energy dropped 60% after the company's admission.[2]
Balcombe, West Sussex
In 2018 Angus took over as operator of the Balcombe 2z oil well, first drilled by site partner Cuadrilla in 2013. Angus carried out limited flow tests in September 2018. In mid-February 2019 Angus announced it would be carrying out further well tests.
Fracking injunctions
In December 2018 Angus Energy's injunctions against protest by 'persons unknown' at its sites at Balcombe in West Sussex and Brockham in Surrey were renewed in the High Court. Judge Simon Barker QC, however, told the firm to drop the controversial list of individuals, groups and web addresses that were part of previous versions of the injunction, and had been bought from a private security company which had compiled the list for another oil company.
